About the Coach

Science-Backed Coaching, Built on Experience

With over a decade of experience as a triathlon coach, I’ve worked with athletes across a wide range of backgrounds and abilities—from first-time marathoners to National standard endurance athletes. My coaching is grounded in real-world performance, but shaped by years of study, reflection, and results.

Helping Athletes Recover, Rebuild and Perform

A key focus of my coaching is supporting runners and triathletes returning from overtraining, RED-s, burnout, or long-term fatigue. I understand how easily training can become unsustainable—and how to rebuild performance through smarter, individualised programming. My approach blends structure with flexibility, and performance with wellbeing.

Bridging Coaching and Research

Alongside coaching, I am a senior lecturer in sport and exercise science and am completing a PhD focused on endurance performance. My research directly informs the training I deliver—ensuring every plan is underpinned by the latest evidence on adaptation, fatigue, and long-term athletic development. You’re not just getting a training plan; you’re getting a tailored strategy based on science and experience.

My values

My coaching philosophy is rooted in evidence, not trends. I take a long-term view of performance—prioritising sustainable progress, athlete wellbeing, and training that fits into life, not around it. I don’t subscribe to fad culture or quick fixes; instead, every programme I deliver is grounded in current sport science, guided by experience, and tailored to the individual. Whether an athlete is returning from overtraining or building towards a lifelong endurance goal, the focus is always on consistency, balance, and lasting performance.

My athletic background

As an athlete, my journey has shaped the way I coach. I was a competitive club swimmer from 2007 to 2016, a triathlete and regional age-group winner between 2008 and 2019, and have since focused on long-distance running. Across these years, I’ve experienced the highs of competition and the challenges of balancing training with study, work, and life. That balance remains central to how I train today—and how I coach others. I practise what I preach: sustainable, structured training that supports both performance and overall wellbeing. My personal experience gives me a grounded perspective when working with athletes who want to perform well without sacrificing health or life outside of sport.
